Premier League giants, Manchester United are currently among the best clubs in Europe keeping checks on Atletico Madrid Central defender Jose Gimenez. The Defender has been noted to has fallen further down in the current squad of Diego Simeone, who is has termly preferred starting Stefan Savic and Diego Godin ahead of the Uruguay international at the center of defence.
Report are now claiming, the Red Devils has previously sent scouts to monitor the performances of the defender and the manager Jose Mourinho could be just tempted to make a surprising offer for the Centre-back. The Uruguayan signed a contract extension last summer that a release clause of £58 million, reports from Mirror claims the El Atleti could accept offer lower than that just so the defender would move on with his career.
However, the Red devils are the not the only top club said to be keeping tabs on the 22-year-old as Juventus is also keeping a close watch in hopes to find a new replacement for their former defender Lenardo Bonucci, who left for Serie A rivals AC Milan in the last transfer window.
Mourinho on the other hand, has found it hard to secure the signing of a perfect centrel defender as Phil Jones has been on the sidelined with a persistent injury. The arrival of Gimenez could be just what the Portugese coach has been looking for the ideal partner to Eric Baily. Victor Lindelof has been susceptible to some mistakes – with the famous slip during the 2-1 against Huddersfield last month.
Meanwhile, the Reds currently have three points to worry about tomorrow as they will travel to North London to face Premier League rivals Arsenal at the Emirates
