Celtic to loan out Scott Allan to secure deal for new goalkeeper

Celtic may get rid of Scott Allan’s loan deal at Dundee and transfer him to Hibernian as look to sign goalkeeper Scott Bain, according to the Daily Mail.

The media publication claimed in their live transfer blog on Wednesday that Allan, 26, could get called by the Hoops from his spell at Dens Park and then sent out to Hibs.

Brendan Rodgers has been probing the transfer market for a new goalkeeper after Craig Gordon was ruled out for three months after picking up an injury and it appears Bain is his priority target for the position as the 26-years-old is on loan in Neil Lennon’s side from Dundee.

It is understood that Allan may be used as a makeweight to convince Hibs into putting an end to Bain’s loan deal.

However, it seems Dundee would be the loser in this deal as they would lose the former West Brom and Portsmouth midfielder, although he has only started eight Scottish Premiership games this present campaign.

Sign a new goalkeeper must be utmost on Rodgers mind. Bain is a decent shot-stopper but does not appear to be the first choice at Easter Road with Ofir Marciano in form. Allan’s future is a strange one. He is performing well at Dundee, but his game time is limited. It’s hard to see how the Dee will allow Bain to go to Celtic if it mean that they would lose the central midfielder who was an integral part of their shock win over Rangers in November.

This deal seems way too complex for Celtic, Hibernian and Dundee to all agree terms to several different things. The 11pm deadline will arrive faster than they think and with Hibs playing tonight, they may have to hurry to get a deal done as soon as possible. Rodgers is best off trying to sign a goalkeeper from elsewhere.
