Manchester United star Andreas Pereira, who is currently serving a loan for Valencia, has given out his statement on the current state of the La Liga club. The Midfielder has admitted to the press that he would prefer to see the end of his season-long loan deal than return to the Red Devils in January.
Pereira, who has been widely noted as one of the most talented young players accustomed to the Red Devils. After series of frustration under former United Manager Louis Van Gaal, there was a big expectancy that the young midfielder would be a first-team player for Jose Mourinho. But that wasn’t the case as for the youngster as he missed out on a first-team action, against his wishes the Brazilian was sent on loan to Valencia on the deadline day this summer, with Mourinho wanting the youngster to stay at Old Trafford and fight for a place in his team.
“Andreas Pereira was a personal decision that I don’t agree with,” Mourinho said in the summer.
“A decision I don’t think honestly is the best decision for him, a decision that disappoints me a little bit, because I think he has the potential to be here fighting for a position, for opportunities, and fighting to be a Manchester United player. You have to be ready to fight for a position and I am a bit disappointed that he left.”
However, the 21-year-old felt that he would get more game time at Valencia considering the list of talented player fighting for the same spot his vouching for at Man United. And injuries to Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, and Paul Pogba could have seen the youngster get a first team action this season.
In the absence of Pereira, an academy graduate, Scott McTomiany has risen to stardom as he got his very own first-team regular in EFL cup. As always Pereira has been an object of rumors, claiming that the young Brazilian would be recalled in January, but the midfielder has claimed he has no idea of such and he would prefer to see the end of his loan contract than return to United.
“In my head I want to be here, help Valencia until June. It is the thought with which I came,” said Pereira.
“I know that I have this clause in the assignment contract and now I have to wait to see. But my mind is focused on Valencia and I want to stay here.
“It is important that I am playing to grow, be better and help Valencia. It would be very difficult to return to united mid-year and continue with the same evolution that I’m having now.”
Before joining the Spanish club, the 21-year-old extended his contract with United by a year in the summer. He is glued to the club until the summer of 2019 while his loan deal runs to June 2018, with the Red Devils having an option to recall.
Pereira is not a newbie to loan contracts, as he was previously sent on loan last season to Granada and made a good impression, scoring 5 goals and creating 3 more in 34 appearances for the club. However, that wasn’t enough to save the Spanish club as they relegated from La Liga.
The Brazilian has been widely regarded as one of many future talents. He could be a future Ballon d’Or winner and has been flourishing in the La Liga side, with Valencia bagging nine goals in 12 matches with no defeats and currently sitting second in La Liga and four points behind topper Barcelona.
