Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is due for a contract renewal discussion in November with his running contract set to expire in 2019.
Mourinho is in his second season as the Red Devils’ boss having faced the axe at Chelsea and moving to Old Trafford.
His first season was a total flop in the Premier League as the side finished sixth and were not a genuine contender for the title.
Though, a Europa League trophy made the failure in the league bearable, earning a spot in the Champions League due to their victory in the Europa League.
That sent Man United back to the elite competition which will take off this week as the group stages commences.
Seemingly, Jose Mourinho has done enough to be in favor with the Manchester United officials and contract renewal talks are set to commence in a couple of months.
Though, according to the Telegraph’s report, the talks would only be a formality as the team’s performances up until the end of the season will be a determining factor of the tactician’s future at Old Trafford.
Dependent on how the team performs for the remaining part of the season after Christmas. Mourinho could be given a better deal or no deal at all if things would not go right.
That is not an expected outcome but the bottom line is that we will have and see in the summer about the details of a new contract for Mourinho.
For now, the first steps have been initiated.
