Liverpool are in presently in a turmoil as not only are they having to deal with the transfer request handed in by Philippe Coutinho but now, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t The Mirror), Emre Can has emerged as a top transfer target for Juventus.
The Serie A champions have been a huge fan of the German for a while and have indicated interest in adding him to their ranks, given that he is in the final year of his contract with the Reds. Can was on full display in the Confederations Cup for Germany, which the World champions won and is yet to put pen to paper for his club.
The report further stated that the Italian champions are willing to spend up to £23million to acquire the German ace and being linked with a team that is more stable and guaranteed of at least a trophy or two, Can might not be able to resist the temptation to leave Anfield.
The German was Liverpool’s saving grace in the second half of the season when Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho were out injured. The 23-year-old made 40 appearances across all competitions for the Reds and great things were expected from him this time around.
There might have been a fear that he would appear less on the pitch this season but with Coutinho possibly heading out this summer, the German get more playing time. However, Juventus is always going to be a great proposition for any player, especially one that is known to be a hard nut to crack on the field.
