Chelsea has given up hope of Alvaro Morata and N’Golo Kante playing against Crystal Palace on Saturday, according to report.
However, the club is certain the Chelsea pair will be available for selection when Roma visit Stamford Bridge next Wednesday in the Champions League.
Morata was sent back to London by Spain who announced he had sustained a grade two tear in his hamstring and would be out of action for at least a month.
Recent report claim Chelsea do not agree with that assessment and are hoping for a quicker recovery time. Morata is due to resume training this week as Chelsea target a step up in his injury comeback. The Spain international has been examined by the medical staff at Cobham and has been given the go-ahead to step up his recovery.
Chelsea resumes their title race against Palace with the London club at the tail end of the table and the Blues aiming to race up to the top four. A point gap of six points separates Chelsea and Manchester City and Manchester United and the Blues will be confident they pick up three points off Palace. The Eagles are yet to register a goal this season in the league and Morata would be disappointed not to have a go at a defense that has been leaking goals.
Chelsea host Roma at Stamford Bridge in the third game of their Champions League campaign and the Bleus have confirmed that match as the return date of their top scorer. Antonio Conte will be glad to receive the good news from Chelsea medical team on Morata after Kante picked up an injury against Bulgaria last week.
The Chelsea midfielder will return to London on Tuesday night amid growing fears he could have suffered a hamstring injury. But, the Blues remain hopeful and think Kante could become fit in time to join Morata in the Roma squad.
