It seems rumors of Philippe Coutinho moving to Barcelona will forever abound. According to reports from the ESPN FC, the Catalan giants are drafting a new bid for the Reds playmaker in the winter transfer window.
The report claims there is a discord between Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Coutinho which has once again put the Spanish giants on high alert and are ready to lure the Brazilian down to Camp Nou.
It was just three months ago, in the summer transfer window, that Barcelona went the extra mile to sign the attacker. After selling Neymar in a world record deal to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona was desperate to add Coutinho to their ranks.
However, the Reds stood their ground and did not budge to the pressure from Barcelona although Barca reportedly submitted a £118m bid. Liverpool was not keen to let go of their best player as it made no sense for the club to bid one of their best playmakers goodbye as they head into a crucial season.
The reports, however, confirm that Klopp has become estranged from Coutinho after the failed summer move. Although the Brazilian has made great effort to reintegrate into the side, questions remain over his long-term future at Anfield.
In this regard, it is being reported that Barcelona is preparing a new bid worth £106m for the Brazil international in the January transfer window. However, the 25-year-old’s transfer could encounter some blockage due to Liverpool’s participation in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
It also remains to be seen how the manager will react to the club’s decision to cash in on the talisman. Regardless of what the media is saying, no one can doubt Coutinho’s loyalty to the Red’s cause.
