Liverpool deemed favorite to sign £45m Arsenal target

Bordeaux manager Jocelyn Gourvennec has hinted Liverpool could be about to hijack Arsenal’s proposed £45m deal to seal a deal for Malcom this summer, according to reports in the Metro.

Malcom has developed into one of the most exciting young talents in France since he arrived at Bordeaux two years ago and he’s pushing to be in the Brazil squad for this summer’s World Cup finals.

The 20-year-old has registered seven goals and provided four assists in his 17 Ligue 1 games so far this season and his talent has reportedly caught the attention of Arsene Wenger.

The Arsenal manager is in the market for attacking reinforcements with Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott heading for the exit door this month and Malcom has emerged as a top target.

The Guardian claim that the Gunners have negotiated personal terms with Malcom’s agent in France during the weekend as the north Londoners closed-in on a deal that could be worth £45m.

Malcom’s agent, Fernando Garcia, has been fuelling the speculation after ‘liking’ messages on social media suggesting that the attacker is set to relocate to the Emirates this month.

However, Bordeaux boss Gourvennec has claimed that Arsenal aren’t the only club in pursuit of the player and hinted that Liverpool appear to be favorite to sign Malcom.

When quizzed about reports suggesting Malcom was moving to England, Gourvennec is quoted as saying by the Metro:

‘I can’t deny that he’s being followed by a lot of people. With Malcom, I go from day-to-day.

‘He’s committed. He’s a bit, like he was in the summer…I wouldn’t say he has been disturbed by it, that’s a bit strong, he’s not disturbed, but he is asking questions.

‘He’s asking himself what’s the best thing for him, for his future. That’s logical. If he’s asking questions and he still manages to make assists or score goals, it’ll be fine.’

‘If Liverpool want you to work for them tomorrow, you’d go. I’m a coach, I’d like to be able to count on Malcom, Malcom has to help us.

‘There is one person who decides in this, that’s the majority shareholder. He talked about this at the weekend, but football remains football.’

Liverpool were rumored with an interest in Malcom earlier this month after Philippe Coutinho completed his move to Barcelona but it remains to be seen whether Jurgen Klopp has stepped-up his interest behind the scenes.

There has been a lot of speculations making round so it’s difficult to know exactly which is the truth but Malcom would be a great addition to any Premier League side if they could get a deal agreed for his signature.

The Brazilian is predominantly a right winger but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the attacking midfield positions and has a lot of energy to burn so I’d love to see him go about his business in England.
