Celtic saved by failed medicals as Rivaldo Coetzee remains unfit

It seemed Celtic dodged a bullet last summer when their attempt to sign Rivaldo Coetzee from Ajax Cape Town fell through due to a failed medical.

Despite the planned move to Celtic falling through, the defender transferred to Mamelodi Sundowns just 48 hours after his failed move to Glasgow.

Many Celtic fans, who were eager for defensive reinforcement at the time were confused as to why Coetzee’s medical with Celtic failed but still managed to move to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Rivaldo is yet to make an appearance for Sundowns since he signed for them and it has become crystal clear that the South African was suffering from a serious injury.

To make matter worse, the defender suffered another setback as he was recovering and it doesn’t look like he will be making his debut for his new club anytime soon.

Celtic’s stringent medical team will feel exonerated by this news.
